The Izmir University of Economics was established in 2001 in Turkey’s third-largest city Izmir and it is the first private university of the Aegean region of Turkey. The library of the Izmir University of Economics aims to meet the information needs of academic staff, students, and researchers and contribute to education and research life. The library was merged with the British Council library in 2004 and English library services started to be provided. The library has wireless internet access and 196 internet access ports. There are also 2 catalogue scanning terminals and 20 computers.
A doctor and a nurse work full time at the university. During the week, the health team at the university takes care of all students who apply to them and provides the necessary guidance. Guidance and counselling services are provided by psychologists to contribute to the mental, spiritual, and social development of students.
According to the Higher Education Institution of Turkey (YÖK) Atlas Guide, among the most preferred engineering bachelor departments, Izmir University of Economics Software Engineering ranked second, Biomedical Engineering fourth, and Civil Engineering ranked among the top 10.
